Project Overview

Team AB, in Great Blakenham, Ipswich, has significantly strengthened its commitment to sustainability with the installation of a 177.45 kWp SolarEdge-optimised PV system. The system was engineered to provide substantial long-term energy savings, reduce operational carbon emissions, and support its tenants energy cost reduction strategy.

This installation positions Team AB as a forward-thinking organisation adopting clean energy at a commercial scale

Client Background

Team AB is a growing business and its objective is to reduce grid reliance, stabilise energy expenditure, and demonstrate environmental responsibility while improving long-term economic resilience for its client base.

System Design and Components

The high-capacity PV system was designed to maximise output and integrate seamlessly with the sites energy demands. The installation includes:

  • 390 JA Solar 455w modules

Providing a combined 177.45 KWp of generation capacity

  • 195 SolarEdge S1000 Power Optimisers

Delivering module-level optimisation to mitigate mismatch losses, shading effects and ensure real world energy harvest.

  • 1 SolarEdge SE100K Synergy Inverter

Supporting oversizing up to 185%, the SE100k efficiently converts high-volume DC energy into stable AC Power for on-site use and grid export.

  • Advanced SolarEdge Monitoring Platform

Allowing real-time generation, performance analytics, consumption levels and long terms system trends.

Implementation and Challenges

The roof layout was optimised to accommodate 390 modules at a 5° tilt with a 95° azimuth. The system design accounted for near-shading profiles and temperature losses, which were modelled using Meteonorm 7.1 climate data.

The electrical design involved careful string balancing using the Synergy platform—each of the three units (left, centre, right) features optimised strings configured with 21–22 optimisers per string, ensuring safe voltages and high efficiency across the entire system. Thanks to SolarEdge architecture, the project avoided significant performance losses and safely met the required grid standards.

Conclusion

The 177.45 kWp solar PV system at Unit 11 stands as a prime example of how commercial and industrial businesses can benefit from large-scale renewable energy technology. By combining high-performance JA Solar modules with SolarEdge’s advanced optimisation and monitoring, Eco UK Group delivered a system that achieves excellent efficiency, strong economic returns, and reliable clean energy generation.
