Project Overview
HTI Global has taken a significant step towards reducing operational energy costs and carbon emissions with the installation of an 81.5 kWp SolarEdge-optimised solar PV system at its new headquarters in Preston.
Delivered by Eco UK Group as part of the HQ relocation project, the system was designed to maximise on-site energy generation, improve energy efficiency, and support HTI’s long-term sustainability strategy.
Client Background
HTI Global is a growing organisation operating from its newly developed headquarters at Mill Farm Sports Village, Preston. As part of the relocation, HTI sought to embed sustainability into the building’s infrastructure from the outset, reducing reliance on grid electricity while futureproofing the site against rising energy costs. Solar PV was identified as a key component in achieving these objectives.
System Design and Components
The system was carefully designed to deliver high performance, resilience, and long-term reliability:
- 180 Aiko 450W Dual Glass PV Modules
Providing a total installed capacity of 81.9 kWp, with high module efficiency of 22.6% and industry-leading warranties. - SolarEdge Optimised Inverter System
Selected to deliver module-level optimisation, ensuring each panel operates independently to maximise energy yield and minimise performance losses from shading or mismatch. - K2 Mounting System
A premium roof-mounted solution offering durability, structural integrity, and long-term weather resistance. - Enhanced Safety Features
The SolarEdge system provides rapid shutdown capability, reducing DC voltage to safe levels during emergencies and improving overall site safety. - Monitoring & Performance Visibility
The SolarEdge monitoring platform enables real-time system performance tracking, fault detection, and long-term energy analysis.
Implementation and Challenges
The installation was coordinated alongside the wider HQ relocation and construction programme. Panels were installed on the southeast-facing roof elevations to maximise solar irradiance and annual energy yield. Eco UK Group managed full project delivery, including electrical design and commissioning.
Existing site infrastructure was utilised where possible, including coordinated access and scaffolding arrangements, ensuring the project was delivered efficiently with minimal disruption.
Results and Impact
The 81.5 kWp solar PV system delivers strong environmental and operational benefits:
- Significant on-site renewable energy generation, reducing grid dependency
- Lower electricity costs, improving long-term financial resilience
- Reduced carbon emissions, supporting HTI’s sustainability commitments
- Enhanced system safety and reliability through SolarEdge optimisation
Conclusion
The installation of an 81.5 kWp SolarEdge-optimised solar PV system at HTI’s Preston headquarters demonstrates how businesses can integrate renewable energy seamlessly into new developments. By combining high-efficiency Aiko modules with advanced SolarEdge technology and robust mounting systems, Eco UK Group delivered a future-ready solution that provides long-term cost savings, improved energy resilience, and measurable environmental benefits.
This project highlights the value of incorporating solar PV at the early stages of building design to maximise both financial and sustainability outcomes.
